Nevado Maparaju means “Dirty Mountain”. Considered as one of the easiest mountains to climb in the Cordillera Blanca, it belongs to the Chinchey massif. It is located at the head of the Cayesh Gorge. The Maparaju is a perfect way to acclimatize before climbing other peaks of the same area. The ascent to this peak is considered mild-difficult despite being classified as easy. Mountaineers advise that hikers must be very careful in the rocky part before the glacier, and to get to the glacier, hikers have to pass a fissure with great caution.

TIP:

  • We recommend you to do at least a 1-Day hike in altitude to be acclimatized before doing this tour.
  • We can offer you different hikes.
  • Huaraz - Acclimatization Churup lake
