Laguna Churup At 3850 m / 12,631 ft we start our easy hike up to Lake Churup with its blue colors sitting at an altitude of 4440 m underneath snow-capped Mount Churup (5495 m / 18,028 ft). The last 100 meter before arriving to the lake involves some scrambling over steep rocks.

Itinerary

Day 01: Huaraz – Lake Churup 4450 m / 14,599 ft
We start in Huaraz and drive up to Llupa village, where our trekking starts. We first walk to village Pitec and continue up to lake Churup. The views of surrounding mountains are magnificent and it is a perfect place to camp. 4 hours aprox.

Day 02: Lake Churup – Lake Churupita – Huaraz
We walk to lake Churupita, from where we get a closer view at Churup glacier and beautiful views all the way to Cordillera Negra mountains. After some time, we start walking down to our camp. 3 hours aprox. This trekking is ideal for acclimatization. Many companies use it as an acclimatization before doing other multi-day treks.
